Govt opens 19 relief centres in Bishnupur

In compliance with the order issued by Bishnupur deputy commis-sioner on Monday, 19 relief centres have been opened in the district for people be-longing to the Meetei com-munity who fled by riot-hit in Churachandpur.
The centres are at DIET, Moirang; Moirang Multi-purpose Higher Secondary School; Moirang College; Ningthoukhong Higher Secondary School; Man - goInganbi College; Loyola School; Thokchom Ibotombi Teachers' Training Institute, Bishnupur; COVID Isolation Ward, Bishnupur; Bishnu-pur Public School; Modern Higher Secondary School; Diligent English School, Moirang; Oinam Higher Secondary School; Oinam High School; Comprehensive School, Oinam; Brighter En-glish School, Oinam; Public School, Oinam; Amushana English School, Keinou; and Bishnupur Awang Govern-ment Primary School.
The said centres will be monitored by the district administration.
Speaking to media per-sons, Apunba Tengbang Lup, which is a joint body of 12 wards of Bishnupur, secre-tary M Bilkee Singh informed that the relief centres have been opened with support from district administration, clubs of the 12 wards, meira paibi groups and CSOs.
The centres have dedicated volunteers and meira paibi activists who will take care of the displaced people, includ-ing catering to their medical requirement, he added.
Meanwhile, essential items were provided by volunteers of Rural Youth Development Organisation Ngaikhong, Si-phai to the relief centres on Tuesday.
