Jiribam IV Road blocked in protest against non-repair

Jiribam, August 05 2014:
Protesting against non-repair of roads in Jiribam sub-division and indifferent attitude of state government on the matter in spite of repeated appeals, Jiribam residents have blocked the Inter-village road connecting Bidyanagar Farm with the National Highway 37 indefinitely from around 3.30 pm today.
Speaking to media persons in this regard, one of the women leaders identified as K.Nilashakhi Devi stated that the state government has not taken any actions for the repair of the said road despite the requests made to local MLA Th.Debendra Singh and related officials for the last one year.
In July this year, the local people also submitted memorandum to Jiribam ADC, Addl.
SP, Local MLA, PWD Minister and concerned authority reiterating the demand for renovation of the IV road, she recalled and informed that August 5 was the deadline set for the demand.
The step for blockade of the road has been taken with expiry of the deadline, she explained.
Saying that the said IV Road is an important connectivity for the people of the area as it leads to Horticulture firm, Game Village, Bio-Diversity park, Sericulture and Water Supply Reservoir, she deplored the silence of the state government and local MLA on the demand for repair of the road.
