Senapati, August 26 2024:
Seven villages under Mayangkhang and T/Khullen area have reiterated their stand to be under the revenue of Senapati district.
In a release, the JAC formed on district boundary declared that Tumuyon Khullen, Kajanga, M Ningthoupham, Mayangkhang, Mayangkhang Khunou, Maremei and Takaimei B villages have firm resolve to remain under Senapati revenue district.
To pursue the matter, a 16 member Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Mayangkhang & T/Khullen Area on District Boundary was earlier constituted and adopted a declaration on August 26 making it clear that Mayangkhang and T/Khullen area belongs to Senapati district since the creation of Senapati district and remains so till date.
The JAC stated that the seven villages fall under Senapati District Headquarters Notified Area and their representatives are members of the Karong Senapati Town-Committee (KSTC) till date.
The declaration adopted on August 26 also mentioned that if any alteration or bifurcation of land boundary and police jurisdiction is made without due consultation of the stakeholders, the seven villages may be compelled to resort to intense democratic form of agitation to oppose the same, the JAC warned.
It may be mentioned that on September 2, 2022, the JAC had declared to oppose the order for re-organisation of police jurisdiction issued by the deputy secretary (Home) on the ground that it was designed to bifurcate the seven villages and bring them under Kangpokpi district for political convenience.
In this regard, the JAC asserted the villages shall remain under the revenue of Senapati district with respect to land boundary demarcation and police jurisdiction whatsoever.
