CM dubs Cong manifesto 'impractical'

Imphal, February 05 2022: Chief minister N Biren Singh has termed as 'impractical' the manifesto of the Congress party released on Friday in connection with the ensuing Assembly elections.

"A manifesto should be practical.

It should not be mere propaganda.

Bluffing has nothing to do with the people," said Biren while briefly interacting with newspersons after filing his nomination for the elections from the.Heingang constituency.

He further informed that the BJP in Manipur will publish its 'practical' manifesto for the upcoming Assembly elections "at the earliest".

"BJP will also publish its manifesto at the earliest.

But our manifesto will be very practical, which can be implemented in the field," said Biren.

Among others, the Congress manifesto promises revocation of the controversial Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act from Manipur if it comes to power after the assembly election.

The Congress party has assured repeal of the pro-military Act in its manifesto along with 30 other promises.

CM N Biren also confided that BJP will publish a manifesto based on the vision of Prime Minister Modi's 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' to bring self-reliant nation.

The manifesto will focus on developing education and sports, aiding sportspersons of Manipur access the best training facilities, creating employment opportunities for the youth, etc.

It will emphasise on agriculture and horticulture to enhance organic farming in the state and particularly in the development of social sector, he said.

While claiming that voice of dissent from certain BJP ticket seekers for the upcoming election has been solved, Biren appealed for free and fair conduct of the election.

He urged the people to cast their votes according to their choice and not to indulge in any crimes in connection with the election.

Chipping in BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda exuded confidence that the BJP government will definitely return to power in the state.

People will cast their votes to BJP on the basis of the various developmental schemes taken up for the welfare of the people.

BJP is the only party that will save Manipur, she asserted, while maintaining that they will form the government by securing more than 40 seats in the upcoming state assembly election.

CM Biren, who filed his nomination before the returning officer for Heingang constituency in Imphal East district, said: "I filed the nomination papers today as a BJP candidate from Heingang constituency at the office of the returning officer.

I was joined by Sharda Devi, president of Manipur BJP.

I extend my best wishes to all BJP candidates, who will file nominations for the upcoming election".

Biren Singh further termed his Congress rival from the Heingang constituency as a "namesake candidate" .
