Four arrested in ATM tampering case

City Police Station formally arrested four individuals, who were arrested by Porompat Police Station in connection with an ATM tampering case and produced before the court of CJM, Imphal East on Friday with a prayer for their judicial remand.
The four have been identified as Narendra Pratap (30) s/o Nangao Yadav and Himanen Singh (30) s/o Babu of Pasaka village, Ajit Singh (24) s/o Jagdish Singh of Damani Rajpur village and Sarvesh Singh (28) s/o Awadesh Kumar of Dhwani Rajpur, all from Uttar Pradesh.
According to the formal arrest application submitted by IO of the case, Manipur State Co-Operative Bank, Imphal Branch AGM made a report to City PS on April 30 around 1.30pm informing that huge sums of money had been fraudulently withdrawn after tampering the ATM machine of the Branch between February-April this year.
Similar fraudulent withdrawals were also made at MSCB Imphal East Branch, Porompat.
Porompat police apprehended two people involved in the incident on April 26 and found that they had fraudulently withdrawn around Rs 3,98,500.As part of the investigation, Porompat PS informed City PS that the four individuals involved in the Thangal Bazar ATM tampering case were in the former's custody and would be produced before the court on Friday.
On Friday, Porompat PS produced all four accused before the court with a prayer for judicial remand, while a team of City PS filed an application to formally arrest the accused four individuals.
After examining the application, the court approved the PS to formally arrest the four accused, while further remanding them to police custody till May 6 .
