Six new Omicron, 116 fresh cases reported

Imphal, January 14 2022:
Six new Omicron cases were detected on Friday which took the total number of Omicron cases in the state to seven as government bulietins reported 116 fresh cases of Covid-19 out of 1643 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 7.06 per cent against 5.94 per cent recorded on Thursday.
Out of the six new Omicron cases, one is a female state native who recently returned from a foreign country and another is a male visitor to the state.
The rest are their close contacts.
The male visitor has already left the state.
Tracing of close contacts and containment measures are in place and cross notification has been sent, a statement of common control room informed.
As per a press statement issued by Health Services director K Rajo Singh, all six patients have been discharged after completing their mandatory isolation period with negative RT-PCR reports.
The director also advised the public to strictly follow COVID Appropriate Behaviour and get vaccinated for Covid-19, stay alert and not to panic.
Meanwhile, no death case was reported on Friday and the fatality toll remains at 2012 .
With the discharge of only 29 patients from home isolation (17), RIMS (1), JNIMS (1) and CCCs (10) in the last 24 hours, the active caseload rose to 944 out of which 259 (27.44 per cent) are in home isolation.
There is no updated information on bed availability in hospitals and Covid Care Centres.
Out of the 16 districts, 12 reported fresh Covid cases on Friday.
So far, the state has recorded 97,421 positive cases and 1638 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month has reported 1033 new positive cases and 10 fatality.
The weekly number of new cases and fatalities have also risen to 809 and 3 respectively.
According to official reports, the 116 fresh cases include 112 people (57 male & 55 female) from among the general population and 4 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were confirmed at JNIMS (14) and other testing centres (102).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (22), Imphal West (40), Thoubal (3), Bishnupur (3), Kakching (4), Kangpokpi (3), Tengnoupal (6), Ukhrul (1), Chandel (2), Kamjong (3), Senapati (1) and Churachandpur (28) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,26,821 (general population - 1,22,183 and CAPF personnel - 4,638).Number of recovered cases is 1,23,865 (general population -1,19,428 and CAPF personnel-4,437) and number of active cases is 944 (general population - 748 and CAPF personnel - 196) .
The recovery rate has come down to 97.67 per cent.
A total of 256 D-type and 56 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, 7112 vaccine doses were administered on Thursday which took the cumulative number of vaccinated people to 13,56,905 of which 10,16,486 have been vaccinated with double dose and 4225 with precautionary dose.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (44,502), Imphal East (28,146), Thoubal (9549), Churachandpur (10,339), Kangpokpi (2805), Tamenglong (3289), Bishnupur (9275), Senapati (2281), Ukhrul (3031), Kakching (6477), Chandel (2439), Noney (1097), Tengnoupal (1086), Jiribam (1049), Kamjong (992) and Pherzawl (464) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (675), Imphal East (482), Thoubal (179), Churachandpur (163), Kangpokpi (63), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (195), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (45), Kakching (116), Chandel (41), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 40,870 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 26,115 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,79,405 tests per million population against the national average of 4,99,074 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.59 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 1643 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 7.06 per cent while the cumulative positivity stands at 8.53 per cent.
