Cong MLAs to propose LS debate on crisis in state

Imphal, June 24 2024:
Congress MLAs of Manipur will be meeting leaders of All India Congress Committee (AICC), including the party's president, in Delhi on June 25 evening to hold discussion on on-going humanitarian crisis in the state and raise the issue during the upcoming Parliament session.
State Congress leaders, along with the newly elected Lok Sabha MPs Angomcha Bimol Akoijam and Alfred Kanngam Arthur, will meet Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi, president Malikarjun Kharge, and opposition leader Rahul Gandhi.
They will propose raising the issue of Manipur in the upcoming Parliamentary session.
Deputy CLP leader K Ranjit along with MLA Th Lokeshwar left for Delhi on Sunday followed by CLP leader O Ibobi, party president K Meghachandra, CWC member Gaikhangam and MLA O Suraj Kumar on Monday.
On reaching Delhi, the state Congress leaders held a preliminary meeting to prepare for their scheduled meeting on Tuesday with AICC leaders.
Speaking to this daily via phone from Delhi, K Ranjit informed that they will call on the AICC leaders around 6:30 pm on Tuesday and present a detailed account regarding the 13-month long crisis in Manipur for threadbare discussion on the same in the Parliament, and to ensure provision of ample time to the two Congress MPs if the matter figures in the parliamentary.
He also stated that during the previous session of Parliament, when the opposition raised the issue, the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister did not provide satisfactory answers to the public.
However, this time, the Congress has firm resolve to ensure that the matter is raised and thoroughly discussed in
the parliament, he confided.
