Republican Party of India-Athawale (RPI-Athawale) national secretary and Manipur in-charge Maheshwar Thounaojam has said that the party will continue to work in the interest of people in Manipur though the party is based in Maharashtra.
On Saturday, Maheshwar Thounaojam felicitated functionaries of party's state unit appointed by the national committee at his Keishampat residence, here, wherein he said that RPI-Athawale might be a partner of NDA at the centre but continues to be neutral in Manipur.
The party wjll continue to stand for truth and work as per pulse of the people irrespective of being in the ruling or opposition, he said.
According to Maheshwar Thounaojam, high command of national political parties operating in Manipur would not understand the issues of the state clearly and the role of state functionaries is very much required in this regard or else national leaders will not understand state issues.
He also expressed hope that party's state functionaries appointed by the national committee will work in the interest of the people and follow the party's norms.
The newly appointed state functionaries of RPI (Athawale) are state president Bishorjit Konthoujam, vice president Bokul Sharma, vice president Oinam Lokendro, working president Haridas Laitonjam, organisational general secretary BM Sharma, secretary Dr Bhumechandra and around 20 functionaries for Kisan Morcha, youth wing and others.
