CCpur bound bridge construction materials set ablaze

Bishnupur, June 15 2024:
At least two trucks transporting construction materials of Bhartia Infra Project Limited, Imphal branch from Sekmai to Singhat in Churachandpur district for construction of bridge, were set on fire at about 12.10 pm Saturday at Tronglaobi area under Moirang police station in Bishnupur district.
Construction materials for the bridge were brought on four trucks but two were set on fire by mob at a playground of Tronglaobi.
Drivers conveyed that the materials were being transported from Sekmai to Singhat in Churachandpur district but the four vehicles were intercepted by Meira Paibis at Ebud-hou Nongpok Ningthou Apanba Apanbi area at Tronglaobi and set on fire.
Two of the trucks (AS 25FC-1704 and MN01AA-3701) were burned to smithereens, while the other two (MN04A -9861 and AS25FC-1838) did not catch fire.
On receiving news of the incident, a team of Moirang PS led by OC, additional SP (Ops) L Amarjit and additional SP (LO) Satyam Takhellambam arrived at the spot and took stock of the situation.
Meanwhile, after learning the incident, central forces used two Casspirs vehicles to block Tiddim road in Tronglaobi area, thereby disrupting the movement of public along the route.
A large number of RAF personnel also arrived at the area and tried to control the mob.
After talking with the additional SP (Ops) and additional SP (LO), it was agreed to drop construction materials at the ground and allow two trucks which did not catch fire to return to Imphal.
