Imphal, July 08 2015 :
All Tribal Rights Protection Forum Manipur (ATRPFM) demanded resignation of Hill Area Committee (HAC) members if they failed to perform their duties and work against the interest of tribal people.
In a press statement, ATRPFM President Ch Sanjoy said that they have submitted a memorandum to the HAC demanding to pass separate budget and develop a five year's annual plan for hill areas in the ongoing State Legislative Assembly.
The forum also demanded that DRDA Executive Directors be appointed in all the hill districts.
They were unhappy that the HAC members did not propose the agenda in the ongoing assembly and not given positive response by the state government but when the forum met with the HAC members they promised to propose the agenda in the assembly.
Article 371C protects the interests of the tribal people and ATRPFM firmly believes that interests, rights and welfare of the tribal people can be protected when this article is fully implemented in letter and spirit by the HAC.
According to the article 371C HAC Chairman is the ADC Finance Chairman.
