Imphal, July 08 2015 :
All Tribal Rights Protection Forum, Manipur (ATRPFM) has expressed concern over Hill Area Committee (HAC) Chairman's silence despite the forum's demand for his initiative to pass a separate budget for the hill districts of the State.
In a statement, the ATRPFM said that the forum had also requested the Chairman through a memorandum to take up steps regarding appointment of Executive Directors of DRDAs in all the hill districts and devolution of power to ADCs.
In contrary to ATRPM's demand for a separate budget for hill districts, the State Assembly had passed a collective budget for the whole State on the first day of the ongoing Assembly session, the statement said.
In order to maintain peace and harmony, the State Government must not suppress HAC and ADC, the statement said.
On the other hand, ATRPFM said that the HAC Chairman must step down if he is not willing to work in the interest of tribal people.
ATRPFM has also pledged support to the ongoing pro-ILPS movement.
