Following the announcement of election dates in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana by the Election Commission of India, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda chaired a meeting of the BJP's general secretaries at his residence in Delhi on Friday.
The meeting was attended by the BJP's national general secretaries and discussed strategies for ensuring effective functioning of the NDA alliance.
The meeting also saw the presence of national general secretaries of the NDA.
However, a post on the social media with a photo of the meeting indicating change of leadership in Madhya Pradesh and Manipur as well as reshuffle in six BJP ruled states went viral in Manipur.
As per sources, the meeting chaired by JP Nadda at his official residence was attended by party's general secretaries and discussed about strategies of NDA alliance for the assembly elections in Jammu & Kashmir and Haryana.
The meeting comes'after the Election Commission of India announced three-phase poll dates for Jammu & Kashmir starting September 18.The ECI also announced assembly poll for Haryana on October 1 with results to be announced on October 4, 2024.Earlier, JP Nadda met BJP leaders of Jammu & Kashmir and the meeting was also attended by Jammu & Kashmir election in-charge and Union minister G Kishan Reddy and national general secretary and Jammu & Kashmir Prabhari Tarun Chugh.
The meeting decided to form an election committee for Jammu & Kashmir.
Immediately after the announcement of poll dates for Jammu & Kashmir and Haryana, BJP national leaders and BJP leaders of Jammu & Kashmir and Haryana held a meeting in New Delhi and it was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union defence minister Rajnath Singh, Union home minister Amit Shah and former Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar.
Meanwhile, a post on social media went viral in Manipur with imaginary content about the meeting of BJP national general secretaries indicating change of leadership in Madhya Pradesh and Manipur as well as reshuffle in six BJP ruled states.
A prominent leader of BJP Manipur Pradesh, however, informed The People's Chronicle that someone had intentionally uploaded the post on social media.
There is no discussion among central leaders about changing the present state leadership or party's state president though gave indication of chalking special strategies to overturn the electoral defeat the party suffered in both the Lok Sabha seats in Manipur in the recent election, the state BJP leader, who refused to be named, revealed.
