Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Kiren Rijiju on Friday tried to allay the fears of the North East regarding CAB stating that there is no need to worry as indigenous people of the North-East will be well protected and provided all support by the Centre when the Bill is tabled in the Parliament.
Speaking on the sideline of the North-East Food Innovation Exhibition in Shillong, he said that issue has already been discussed and the Union Home Minister has heard the views of the people of the NE region.
Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu said that the State has laws in place to handle the impact of the Citizenship Amendment Bill.
In case situation becomes tense in the region, he said he will support the North Eastern States and discuss a way out of it, added Pema Khandu.
