CBTU to join all India strike on Jan 8

Imphal, December 06 2019:
The Coordinating Body of Trade Unions, Manipur is joining the all India strike on January 8, 2020 called by ten Central trade unions including INTUC, AITUC, HMS, CITU, AIUTUC etc highlighting various demands for welfare of the workers.
The decision to join the all India strike was taken during the State convention of trade unions held at the premises of Manipur Hindi Parishad, Imphal today.
The demands include strict implementation of Food Security Act, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, implementation of 7th Pay Commission, replacement of New Pension Scheme with Defined Pension Scheme, regularisation of contractual, casual and outsourced workers, social security for all workers/employees, increment in honorarium of Village Defence Force (VDF) and establishment of Highway Protection Force etc.
The convention also raised the issues of minimum wage and street vendors.
Honorarium of Rs 18,000 should be given to minimum wage workers and they should be provided a minimum of Rs 3,000 as pension.
Street vendors should be provided proper and permanent place to conduct business, demanded the convention.
