Kohima, April 30 2009: NAGALAND HOME Minister, Imkong L.Imchen has said that there has been hue and cry for unity among the Nagas but it has been illusive because the 'evil of tribalism which is seen among the Nagas has eroded the path of unity'.

Delivering his valedictory speech at the closing function of the 23rd Naga Students Federation (NSF) at Mopungchuket village under Mokokchung district in Nagaland yesterday, Imkong drew the attention of the Naga students community to ponder over it seriously, why there should be unity, why this remained a far dream? You are more Ao or any other tribe than Naga and so on, as a result the talk of unity become meaningless and defeated, the Home Minister provoked the student community.

He said that Underground groups, Hoho, NSF etc are not united despite the fact every organization cry for forging unity among the Nagas to fulfill 'our common dream'.

Imkong Imchen, the former General Secretary, NSF strongly felt that even church leaders should not shy away to talk against the evil of tribalism as it is the main stumbling block for forging unity among the Nagas.

Meanwhile, the NSF has elected new team office bearers with Former Chakhesang Students' Union President Mutsikhoyo Yhobu elected "unopposed" as president for the tenure 2009-11 .

Apart from the post of finance secretary, which saw a straight contest between outgoing NSF vice-president Charles Lotha and outgoing games and sports secretary Meijiang Gangmei, other posts including general secretary, vice-president, assistant general secretary, speaker, social and cultural secretary and education secretary, were also filled up unopposed.

Meijiang Gangmei was finally elected to the post of finance secretary through ballot, which was cast by two representatives each from the 17 Federating units.
