The people of Haochong area in Tamenglong district have been reeling under the hardship of flood and landslide with the only connecting road having wiped out and vast tract of paddy field with standing crops submerged under water, according to a statement made available to the press by chairman of Haochong Village Authority Chair Bariam.
Bariam informed that the bridge over Nungrakwa had been swept away in the flood, thus cutting off Haochong area from rest of the world.
Moreover, vast tract of paddy field with standing crops particularly in Haochong, Ijetrong, Oktan, Bakuwa, Pungmon and Nungtek and Karuangmuan villages have been submerged in the flood water.
The chairman has appealed to the authorities concerned of the State Government for taking up necessary measures to redress the grievances of the people.
