Imphal, July 28 2009: Two villagers of Keihao have been severely thrashed and let off by KNF (P) cadres for late delivery of meals.

Incidentally, the KNF (P) is a signatory of the SoO pact with the State and Central Governments.

The incident took place at Bongbal Khullen near Nongpok Keithelmanbi in Senapati district but under the jurisdiction of Yairipok police station at about 11.30 am yesterday.

The victims of KNF (P) cadres have been identified as Homi Zimik (60) and Rokerson Angkang (35) s/o Chashiba.

Both of them be long to Keihao village, adjacent to Bongbal Khullen.

Speaking to media persons about the incident at RIMS today, some villagers of Keihao narrated that around 10 armed cadres of KNF (P) came to the house of village chief David in the afternoon of July 26 .

In addition to accommodation for the night, the armed cadres demanded meals for the next morning (July 27) with a condition that the dishes should be what they choose.

The village chief acceded to the demands.

Subsequently, the villagers arranged their accommodation and collected clothes from each household for the armed cadres.

Complaining that the clothes were not enough, the cadres kicked out the clothes.

In the next morning, as the villagers were cooking food, the KNF (P) cadres went down towards Keithelmanbi.

Doubtful whether they would come back or not, the villagers cooked only rice, as there were similar instances when the UG cadres did not came back after asking the villagers to arrange meal.

But the KNF (P) cadres came back at about 8 am asking for lunch.

On learning that the dishes were yet to be cooked, the visibly armed cadres commanded the villagers to bring their lunch before 10:30 am.

On being asked by the villagers about the place where they should bring lunch, the KNF (P) cadres told the villagers to find out the place themselves.

Soon after the foods were cooked, the villagers looked out for the armed cadres all around the village.

They went up to Keithelmanbi.

There a youth on a motor-cycle informed David and another villager to bring the lunch Bongbal Khullen.

The youth also ordered the village chief and his companion to bring the lunch from the site of the hill, not from Keithelmanbi side.

Later along with three women of the village and two other men who knew the tract to Bongbal Khullen though the hills, the village chief delivered the lunch to the KNF (P) cadres at about 11:30 am.

But the armed cadres abused the villagers saying that the meal was too late.

Then they started thrashing the village chief and his companion severely.

Nevertheless, the KNF (P) cadres partook the meals.

Earlier in March, village pastor Marcus Angkang was physically assaulted by KNF (P) cadres on his paddy fields located near Bongbal Khullen.

KNF (P) cadres bashed up the village chief and a member of the village authority in September last year, recounted the villagers.
