Imphal, February 20 2022: A one day awarness programme on the Banning of Unregulated Deposit Scheme Act (BUDS), 2019 cum convention of depositors of SALAI, IRA and Lamjingba etc was held today at Manipur Dramatic Union.

The programme organised by JAC for Salai Depositors Imphal was attended by Rakesh Mehoubam, Director, Human Rights Law Network, who spoke about the importance of BUDS Act 2019 .

Chingeln Maisnam, Associate Professor, Economic Department, Manipur University deliberated on the need of financial literacy in Manipur.

He added that as the number of such fraudulent companies are increasing everyday, it has become impossible to just fight them through legal means without the support of the Government.

There are about 1.06 lakh cases lying in the Supreme Court and High Courts that are more than 30 years old while cases under 30 years old puts the tally to more than a crore.

Every 23 minutes a pending case is added at various Courts in the Country, he aded.
