Imphal, August 17 2024:
Amazon has now open applications from female students across India including Manipur for its Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship programme.
The initiative offers 500 scholarships, each valued at Rs 2 lakhs and spread over four years, to support young women pursuing undergraduate degrees in computer science engineering or related fields.
Recipients of the scholarship will benefit from personalised mentorship by Amazon employees, participate in a 10-month technical bootcamp, and gain real-world experience through paid internships starting after their second year.
Each scholar will also receive a laptop to enhance their learning experience.
Akshay Kashyap, India Lead for the Amazon Future Engineer Programme, explained that the program's mission is to bridge the gender gap in tech.
"We aim to provide the tools and opportunities necessary for deserving girl students to succeed in engineering and technology," he said.
In Imphal, this programme promises to be transformative.
As more young women from the region gain access to quality tech education and professional opportunities, it could stimulate local economic growth, foster innovation, and pave the way for a more inclusive tech ecosystem in the area.
Applications are open until October 31, 2024, with selections to be announced by January 2025 .
