Imphal, July 29 2017:
Imphal-Churachandpur Bus Owners & Workers Association, Imphal and Tiddim Road Bus Owners Transport Co-operative Society Ltd, Churachandpur have fervently appealed to the authority concerned not to shift the bus parking at New Bazar, Lamka Town in Churachandpur to other areas .
Addressing a press meet at Keishampat this morning, B Dhanabir Sharma, general secretary of Imphal-Churachandpur Bus Owners & Workers Association said that the State Government is planning to construct a market shed at the bus parking site and without the knowledge of the people, digging of the site started yesterday by using an excavator.
He said that the two organisations are not against the plan to construct a market shed at New Bazar, Lamka Town but the State Government could have chosen a suitable site for it .
Pointing out that the bus parking does not cause traffic congestion at the area, he claimed that the two organisations have been paying a sum of Rs 12,000 to ADC Churachandpur per month for using the site as bus parking.
He reminded that the organisations had already submitted a memorandum each to the Chief Minister, DC Churachandpur and ADC Churachandpur urging them to not shift the parking to other areas .
He then cautioned that the organisations may compel to cease Imphal-Churachandpur passenger service if the Govt forcibly constructs a market shed at the parking site.
