Security personnel to undergo Ebola test

Army and paramilitary personnel moving in convoys on National Highways would be tested for Ebola mandatorily.
Chief Minister O Ibobi today convened a high-level meeting and discussed about all possible preventive measures so as to avoid Ebola outbreak in Manipur.
Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing, top officials of Health Department and officials of National Health Mission (NHM) were present at the meeting.
The meeting reviewed all the ini tiatives taken up to prevent outbreak of Ebola or transmission of the disease to citizens of the State, informed an official source.
Even as NIIM has stationed officials at Moreh, Jiribam, Mao and the lmphal airport for Ebola screening, army and paramilitary convoys travelling on National Highways refused to pull up for Ebola screening even if they are coming from outside the State.
The same matter was tabled and discussed during the meeting this morning.
The Chief Minister then directed the DGP to station adequate strength of security forces at Ebola check-points and instruct security forces to assist in the efforts to keep Ebola at bay.
At present, three persons coming from Congo, New York and Japan are being monitored by health workers.
The man who came from Congo is a security personnel and he went there as a member of a peace keeping force on UN Mission.
