Citing the election as a contest between the Congress and the public, Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress President Kim Gangte said that the ensuing Konthoujam Assembly Constituency bye election will mark a new beginning in the history of politics in the state.
Addressing the media after the filing of the nomination papers of Trinamool Congress candidate, Konthoujam Sarat at the SDO Office Patsoi situated at DC Complex, Lamphel, Kim Gangte said that the bye election is the prologue of the forthcoming assembly election.
For a peaceful and integrated Manipur, people all over the state should support Sarat to defeat the Congress in the election.
MPTC candidate Konthoujam Sarat said that he lost the 2007 assembly election by a margin of only 84 votes to Late S Budhichandra.
There should be no room for dynastic politics in a democracy.
Sarat said, he is contesting the election with the aim to serve the people and to bring about a peaceful development in the state.
When asked about differences among the bye elections of Moirang, Khundrakpam and Yaiskul assembly constituencies, Sarat said the working of the former MLA of Konthoujam A/C was quite different from the MLAs of those constituencies.
Moreover there are many anti Congress people in the constituency which will help him to win the bye election.
MPP and BJP are supporting him with the aim to defeat the Congress.
Sarat said, if he wins the election, he will befriend the poor people of the constituency and will work to bring development to the farmers and also to improve the communication system.
