Cabinet approves new building bye-laws

The state cabinet meeting on Tuesday chaired by chief minister N Biren Singh discussed 'The Model Manipur Unified Building Bye-Laws, 2024' and gave the approval for implementation of the new law.
As per sources, the cabinet discussed about 10 listed agenda and other non-listed agenda of different departments.
All three agenda of MAHUD department proposed and subsequently approved included 'The Model Manipur Unified Building Bye-Laws, 2024', 'The Unified Zoning/ Used Regulation Bye-Laws for the Master Plan Areas of Manipur - allowing construction of hostels in Industrial Areas' and 'Construction of Multi-Storeyed Government Quarters at Langol Foothills' .
For better understanding of 'The Model Manipur Unified Building Bye-Laws, 2024', four workshops will be held at district headquarters at the cost of Rs 15 lakh.
As per the recommendation of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, the existing Manipur Municipal Corporation Building Bye-Laws, 2013 is process for rectification.
Among the agenda proposed from revenue department during the meet, the state cabinet approved requisition of the land allotted to Himalayan Tiles and Marble Private Limited in Taothong Revenue Village, Imphal West and instead construct a working women's hostel; allotment of land at revenue village No 9 - Khekman for construction of Solid Waste Management Processing Facility; and allotment of land to the affected families of Lei Ingkhol.
The cabinet also approved 30 general holidays for calendar year, 2025 proposed by General Administrative Department (GAD) as well as for adoption of National Pension System (NPS) for employees of Manipur Technical University and appointment of Lourembam Sanjana Devi, wife of (late) Rfn No 1210821 Pukhram Ranabir Singh, who was killed in an encounter with Kuki militants at Phougak chao Ikhai, to a suitable post commensurate with her educational qualification in Manipur police department on compassionate ground.
In an agenda discussed for forest and climate change, the cabinet approved formulation of Manipur Forest Training Institute Rules, 2024 for modernization of training of frontline forest staff.
In the unlisted agenda, the state cabinet discussed establishment of Manipur Football Academy proposed by Youth Affairs & Sports Department and approved formation of Direct Purchase Committee for procurement of land for the academy.
The academy will be constructed at Matai village and land for the academy will be procured under direct purchase mode.
Apart from approval for formation of the committee, the cabinet also appointed Imphal East deputy commissioner as chairman of the committee.
Members of the committee include director (YAS), a representative of finance department not below the rank of deputy secretary, a representative of land resources department not below the rank of deputy secretary and SDO Porompat.
