Imphal, July 09 2018:
Hill Tribal Council, Moreh, Meitei Council, Moreh, Manipur Muslim Council, Moreh, Tamil Sangam, Moreh and Gorkha Samaj Sewa Samiti, Moreh, have expressed deep shock and disbelief at the arrest and subsequent judicial remand of Chandel ADC Chairman Lhukhosei Zou alias Shesei Zou, his PRO Jamkhohao alias Haopu and Minlal Mate on June 19 by NAB Manipur.
A joint press release issued by the associations today mentioned that a person is innocent until proven guilty and claimed that in the said case, NAB Manipur has portrayed the arrested individuals as convicted people.
It further alleged that NAB has not made any strong case against the arrested individuals but they were still arrested and sent into judicial custody on mere suspicions without any proofs.
It mentioned that after various discussions about all the development so far, the associations have concluded that Lhukhosei Zou has been framed politically by his political rivals.
It also claimed that some accused individuals were managed by the interrogating agencies by offering State Government employment, Government quarters, money and freedom if they provide evidences against the Chairman.
The associations also urged the Government to launch an investigation into a voice recorded propaganda which went viral on WhatsApp and other social media on June 19 before the Chairman and the other individuals were arrested.
It further appealed to the authorities concerned to work on the case and deliver justice as per the law of the land and resolved to go ahead with various forms of democratic agitation until justice is delivered.
