Imphal, January 27, 2011:
Seeking the government's clarification, the Association for DPC Successful Candidates for Primary Teachers' 2006 on Thursday set January 31 as the deadline to take a final decision on the controversial DPC results for appointment of primary teachers.
The controversy arose after Hueiyen Lanpao published the result which was removed from the notice boards in the last minute for reasons best known to the government only.
Recalling that the recruitment was conducted to fill-up vacant posts of primary teachers in government schools, spokesperson of the association, K Jadumani, asserted that the result was published after keeping it in cold storage for a long time after the DPC process had been completed.
The government asserting that the published result was an unauthentic one, constituted a high level inquiry committee to ascertain whether the result had been leake.
The report of the committee was forwarded to the state Law Department for comment, he said.
He further said that in a meeting with the representatives of the association, the Chief Minister and government officials had said they had observed some flaws in the result and were making necessary rectifications.
The government had assured them that the result would be declared after the elections to the Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats held in December, 2010. With the inordinate delay in declaring the result, they are feeling apprehensive of the government's sincerity, he added.
Jadumani further asserted that the recruitment was undertaken to make permanent appointments to fill up vacant posts, but in a surprise development they have heard that the Cabinet has now decided to appoint the DPC successful candidates on contract basis for 11 months at a time.
He said this decision will not be accepted.
