Zeliagrong bodies expose Satudai 'lie'

Imphal, July 21 2013: Zeliangrong Youth Front (Nungba Zone) and Zeliangrong Students' Union, Khoupum Area have strongly condemned the 8th Gorkha Regiment's inhuman act and atrocities perpetrated upon Nailin Malangmei (54)of Satudai village, Khoupum valley on 14th July 2013 .

In a joint statement signed by Duangam Dangmi, Convenor of ZSUKA; Khamba Kamei, Information and Publicity Secretary, ZYF, Nungba Zone and Joel Riamei, Area Secretary, ZSUKA, the two Zeliangrong bodies asserted that the PIB (Defence Wing) statement which repeatedly appeared in local dailies on 19th and 20th denying occurrence of the incident has only exposed desperate attempt of the security personnel to cover up their excessive acts and misdeed and to mislead the general public.

The 8th Gorkha Regiment's denial of their inhuman acts is a complete lie and it would not enable them to escape from the clutch of truth and reality.

The army personnel's inhuman and excessive acts upon innocent civilian in the said incident will be proved as and when required as there are enough evidences to substantiate it.

The innocent villagers who are peace loving people will stand before any lawful authority as witnesses regarding the incident, the statement said.

Issuing of statement by PIB (Defence Wing) to paint different colours upon the people who speak the truth is an old trick of psychological intimidation to innocent people from divulging the reality.

The PIB (Defence Wing) has even dubbed raising objection to such inhuman acts as smear campaign against the army.

Distorting the facts is common practiced resorted to several times by army in the past whenever any inhuman and excessive acts perpetrated upon the innocent zeliagrong bodies expose...

people.

As such the people are fed up of army concocted and fabricated tales, the Zeliangrong bodies asserted, while pointing out that the primary purpose of army personnel's presence in any area or place is to create public confidence and security in the mind but the 8th Gorkha Regiment has totally contradicted this purpose.

The PIB (Defence Wing) should not rely without authenticating on the wrong feed back or report given by 8th Gorkha Regiment as the victim has suffered ear drum damage apart from swelling and blue & black marks on his body due to thrashing and beating.

The matter will be taken up in any appropriate authority or forum in the pursuit defending human rights until justice is achieved, the statement made it clear.
