Imphal, October 17 2011:
Many tiny Tadpoles have be found in the drinking water being supplied by PHED from its supply water scheme located at Canchipur over the last couple of days.
It is said that the tadpoles have been found especially in the water being supplied through the pipeline running on the side of Thongju and Kha-Naorem Leikai.
It is yet to be confirmed whether the tadpoles have entered through leak in the water pipeline or inadequate application of chemicals like bleaching powder for treatment of the water in the water supply.
But this is not the first instance where tap-water being supplied to the public by the PHED is found to have been contaminated.
In the past, there have reports of fingerlings or mosses or water hyacinths flowing out of the tap.
Taking serious note of Tadpoles found in the potable water being supplied, people of Thongju and Kha-Naorem Leikai have drawn the attention of the authorities concerned into the matter.
