CM inspects Capitol Project, says construction will be completed by November

Imphal, October 17 2011:
The Capitol Project and High court complexes which are under constructions in the Imphal city will be completed by November, said Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh while on an inspection visit at the site today.
Asked about the ongoing economic blockade on national highways on the sideline of the visit, Ibobi told reporters that the blockade has crossed 78 days and the people both in the valley and hill are facing hard time due to the agitation.
He appealed to Sadar Hills District Demand Committee ( SHDDC) demanding upgradation of Sadar Hills to a full-fledged district and United Naga Council ( UNC), which is spearheading a counter blockade on the lifeline routes of the state to call off the stir and instead take up a democratic form of movement.
Meanwhile, O Ibobi Singh said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi have kindly consented to inaugurate the Capitol Project, High Court Complex, City Conventions buildings, etc before the next winter session of the Parliament which is scheduled to begin on December 25 .
He also informed that Dr.Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi would lay the foundation stone of the proposed NIT building and other projects during their trip.
All the adjacent roads connected with the Government establishments in the Imphal city have been black topping and they will be finished ahead of the visit of Prime Minister and Sonia, he added.
The Chief Minister also visited and inspected the work being progressed at the site where retaining wall is constructed on the banks of the Nambul river.
Ibobi was accompanied by IFCD Minister N Biren, Works Minister K Ranjit, PDA Chairman Dr.Loken and other state officials in today's inspection visit.
Artists' workshop: Manipur State Kala Akademi, Imphal would be organizing an Artists' (painting) workshop in collaboration with Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi at the auditorium of Government Dance College, Palace Compound, Imphal from October 18 to 22 .
According to a statement issued by the Secretary of Manipur State Kala Akademi in this regard, Associate Prof S Pranam Singh of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Benaras Hindu University would be the Commissioner of the workshop to be attended by 10 artists of younger generation.
Eminent artist and Lalit Kala Akademi awardee Thoidingjam Tombi Singh would be Chief Guest of the inaugural function which would commence from 10 am on October 18 while Manipur State Kala Akademi awardee L Shamu Singh would preside over the function.
