Later, police called up personnel of the state police bomb disposal squad who confirmed it to be a bomb.
The bomb was later disposed off at an open place at Lamphel around 5.30 pm, a police report said.
Meanwhile, a failed bomb attack was performed at the house of a pradhan in Bishnupur district by suspected undergrounds last night.
The attack was launched at the house of pradhan of Thingungei Gram Panchayat, Laishram Ibopishak yesterday morning.
The bomb dropped at the front courtyard of the house was later taken back by a team of Bishnupur.
Police suspected the attackers to be KCP (MC) activists who had recently served monetary demand to the pradhan.
