Police has registered a case of the death of a villager in an IED blast in the interior area of Chandel district.
The chief of the village relayed the news yesterday, 18 days after the incident.
Thirty-five year old Chungpao Singson son of late Khupkholal Singson of LH Zangnomphai village under Molcham police station in the interior the Chandel district died on September 17 following the explosion an IED planted on the river bank of Tuisadung, about seven km from his village, according to the complaint lodged by the chief of the village.
Village chief Lamkhohen Lhanglal lodged the complaint with the Molcham police station yesterday.
In the complaint, he alleged that Chungpao was the victim of the IED explosion when he accidentally stepped on the IED while going to collect bamboo shoots from the forest.
The blast blew away
his right leg.
He succumbed to excessive bleeding on the way back to his home.
Villagers buried his dead body without informing the police at a village funeral ground, the chief informed.
He said the reason behind the delay in informing the police was because of bad communication even though the village is located only 20 km away on the south of Molcham village.
Molcham police has registered a case under section 376/302 of IPC and 3 Explosive Substances Act, an official source said today.
