Imphal, August 20 2024: A Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan awareness campaign aimed at encouraging school children to avoid substance abuse was held at Lamlong Higher Secondary School today.

The programme was jointly organised by the Social Welfare Office Imphal East and District Health Society Imphal East.

Kripa Foundation IRCA Imphal East Project Director Ksh Jibanmala, National Tobacco Control Programme's psychologist Ng Anuradha and Lamlong Higher Secondary School Principal MW Tharawon attended the event.

Speaking at the event, Waikhom Tamapati, Imphal East District Social Welfare Officer, stressed the importance of discipline and harmful effects of abusing drugs.

The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan aims at educating children about the harmful effects of substance abuse.

It is aimed at encouraging school children and youths to live healthy and avoid abusing drugs for a healthy society, said the officer.

The DSO urged students, teachers and all stakeholders including the parents to work towards making Manipur and India free from the menace of drugs.
