Imphal, December 15 2024: Unknown persons suspected to be members of underground outfits placed a hand grenade at the residential gate of a special contractor located at Kairang Maning Leikai Lane Number 3, under Heingang police station, Imphal East this morning.

Suspected to be related to monetary demand, the hand grenade was found wrapped with a warning note that read "Nangi Emung Kana na Kanba Ngamgani Sangkar" (Who will be able to save your family, Sangkar).

The special contractor has been identified as Thokchom Shankar (52) son of (L) Th Bihari.

The hand grenade was noticed by passers-by and informed the family members.

Police and Imphal East commandos rushed to the spot and picked up the bomb safely from the spot.

A case has been registered for investigation.
