Imphal, May 03 2024:
In commemoration of the one-year of war waged by Kuki-Zo terrorists in Manipur since May 3, 2023, All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) organised a public discussion on 'Revisiting the 3rd May, 2023' at Kwakeithel Akham Leikai community hall on Friday.
The discourse mainly dwelt on the violence being perpetrated by Kuki-Zo terrorists in Manipur since May 3, 2023, the present situation in Manipur and unforeseen forces in the shadow of the present conflict.
The public discussion was attended by AMUCO president Nando Luwang, advisor Ito Tongbram, Poirei Leimarol Apunba Meira Paibi Manipur president S Memcha and AMAWOVA president Y Kunjarani as presidium members.
In his address, Nando Luwang opined that in the midst of ceaseless attacks by Kuki-Zo terrorist since May 3, 2023 and the Meeteis' fight for upholding unity and integrity of Manipur, there is gradual realisation that the government of India has been abetting handful of Kuki-Zo militant groups in prolonging the conflict situation.
Stressing the need for exposing alleged nexus between the union government and Kuki-Zo armed groups with the ulterior motive to suppress the indigenous communities, Nando cautioned that as Kuki-Zo terrorists are waging the war without any limitation the Meeteis need to discuss pros and cons of battles fought by the forefathers and continue the fight to safeguard unity and integrity of Manipur.
Whatever differences crop up among the community amidst the war could be resolved later but the priority the community should give at present is to render fruitless the secret strategy to break apart Manipur.
The present war is the most crucial juncture for the present generation and every indigenous people should wake up to defeat the war being waged to balkanise Manipur.
The war fought by forefathers of the land against the British at Khongjom was an open one with known enemy but the present war has many known and unknown enemies and accordingly need to fight with thorough discussion and new tactics, Nando said.
Terming as huge embarrassment before the international fraternity that India continue to remain silent as well as infective on containing the violence which could have been resolved way back if government of India had the sincerity and commitment to tackle the same, Nando said the Government of India must be responsible for the crisis right from the beginning till the end.
Delivering the key note address, AMUCO general secretary Leishangthem Pratap said the incident on May 3, 2023 was the first big strategy and policy to break apart Manipur by challenging the unjty and integrity of different indigenous communities of the land.
AMUCO has been lighting against any attempt to distort unity and integrity of Manipur in the past and will continue the same.
The incident on May 3 , 2023 occurred after large number of Kuki-Zo public from Churachandpur guarded by Kuki-Zo terrorists torched Meetei houses and killed villagers, he said and demanded that the Government of India award befitting punishment to Kuki-Zo terrorists.
