Drug smuggling bid foiled yet again

Imphal, February 21 2013:
Troops of 9 Assam rifles under HQ 26 Sector Assam rifle /HQ IGAR(South) yet again prevented smuggling of banned pharmaceutical substances across the border via Moreh and its surrounding areas today.
According to information received by Hueiyen Lanpao, acting on specific intelligence report regarding smuggling of banned drugs in general area of Thangbung Minou under Chandel district, a swift search operation was launched by troops of 9 AR.
During the operation, the search party noticed some people moving towards the International border carrying packed consignments in general area, 2 km short of Thangbung Minou around 3 pm.
On seeing the security personnel, the drug smugglers escape into the think jungles of Myanmar territory leaving behind consignment along Indo- Myanmar border.
Thorough check of the consignments revealed that they are banned Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride tablets weighing approx.
28 kg .
The cost of the recovered Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride tablets is said to be about Rs 15,00,000 .
The recovered unclaimed banned Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride tablets would be handed over to office of the NCB, Imphal for further investigation.
