Arms missing case: Two freed on bail for want of evidence

Special Judge NIA, Manipur, yesterday, released two individuals, including the chairman of KRA, on bail after the Court found insufficient evidence against them in connection with the missing arms case of 2nd Manipur Rifle Arms Kote.
The two individuals released by the Court are KRA chairman David Hangshing (38) s/o (late) Lalpao Hangshing of Lhungtin village, Saikul and H Talung Pungphinamai of Senapati district.
David Hangshing executed a PR bond of Rs 10 lakh (with surety) while H Talung Pungphinamai executed a PR bond of Rs 5 lakh (with surety) through their respective counsels.
It may be mentioned that David Hangshing and H Talung Pungphinamai were arrested by National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with the missing arms case from 2nd Manipur Rifle Arms Kote and the NIA had already framed charge sheets against them as well.
NIA submitted its first charge sheet on September 25 last year, against eight accused namely Laishram Anilkumar Singh, Thokchom James alias Tonao, Paonam Shantikumar Singh, Haobam Brojendro Singh, Ngamboi Haokip alias Raju, Nellikattil Podiyan Damodaran, Mathurabashimayum Hiranjoy Sharma alias Ngoubi, Laishram Damudor Singh alias Thembung, in the Court of Special Judge, NIA Manipur, Imphal.
Later the NIA submitted their second charge sheet against David Hangshing, Th Diamond Singh, Yamthong Haokip (MLA Saikul AC) and self-styled chairman of UKLF, Lhunkhonson Haokip, after necessary investigation.
It may also be mentioned that Special Judge NIA Manipur, very recently, issued a warrant of arrest against Lhunkhonson Haokip, who has been on the run even to this day.
