The civil society organizations of Kangpokpi district considered the appeal and proposal of Deputy Commissioner, Kangpokpi in setting up Community Quarantine Centre (CQC) in an emergency joint meeting held on April 30 at Conference Hall, DC Office Kangpokpi.
The emergency joint meeting convened by DC Kangpokpi was attended by various CSOs of the district and Government departments including the medical department and all the SDOs of the district.
The civil society organizations were represented by Thangminlen Kipgen, president, KSO-Sadar Hills and other KSO block-level leaders of Twilang, Island (Phailengmol), Saikul, Bungpi and Moltam apart from Machun, president, Liangmai Naga Council and various other tribes and communities leaders of Vaiphei, Gangte, Komrem and Gorkhas.
The joint meeting chaired by Lalithambigai Kalidas, DC Kangpokpi stressed on the participation of CSO's and village chiefs in setting up community quarantine centres in coordination with MLAs and the district administration.
Highlighting the time constraints, the Deputy Commissioner, who is also the District Magistrate requested the CSOs leaders to support district administration in setting up Community Quarantine Centre (CQC) while stressing the importance of the CSOs and village chiefs active co-operation in the fight against the dreaded COVID-19 virus which has become a threat to one and all worldwide.
After minutely deliberating on the proposal of the DC, the CSO leaders accepted the proposal and appointed KSO Sadar Hills president, Thangminlen Kipgen as the coordinator of setting up the Community Quarantine Centre at village level to quarantine the stranded returnees from outside Manipur.
In the meeting, the medical department expressed its shortcomings in staff and medical equipment as well as other resources for dealing with the highly contagious Coronavirus outbreak situation despite all efforts by the Government.
