A combined team of Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB), Regional Unit, Imphal and sleuth of Narcotic Affairs Border nabbed a man today with contraband tablet worth around Rs 1.32 lakh on the a airport road.
The combined team led by superintendent of NCB, Imphal, RK Ibungosana apprehended the man identified as Md Sudin (27) son of Salawar of Lilong Haoreibi around 6.30 am and detected the tablets banned in the state by an order of the state government, official report said.
The banned tablets recovered from him included 34,730 pieces of Larfast tablet (costing Rs 11.51 a piece), 1,82,770 pieces of Solkup tablet (Rs 3.45 a piece), 43,810 Bukap tablet (Rs 6.50 per piece), 350 pieces of Trifed ( Rs 21 per piece).
Altogether, the tablets were worth Rs 1,32,241, officials said.
Superintendent, Ibungosana said that personnel of the combined team were detailed at designated places today based on specific information of transportation of contraband items by some persons and they detected the items when conducting a check on a car (MN1W-4511) coming from the airport towards Imphal.
On spot verification, they came to know that the contraband items were sent by one of Sudin's relatives staying in New Delhi through a cargo flight of Indian Airlines yesterday and he had taken it out from the airport today.
The items were meant for onward export to Myanmar as disclosed by Sudin, the SP said revealing that these tablets are used in manufacturing No.4 (Heroin).
These items are exchanged for Heroin by the smugglers, he added.
