CM talks peace, devt on Statehood Day

Manipur celebrated its 47th Statehood Day today at 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles ground with 5 9 march past contingents adding glitter and vigour to the colourful function.
Significantly former Chief Minister Radhabinod Koijam was not among the invitees to the day's function.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that the Government had taken serious note of the twin blasts which occurred near M-Sector on Kanglapat road on January 15 .
A high power committee would be assigned to investigate the incident by taking up the matter before the State Cabinet, he added.
Since the attacks had not been claimed by any UG group, it is suspicious that it could have been carried out by some vested interest groups with a motive to discredit the present Government which has already earned mass support from the public.
N Biren further said that the matter had already been apprised to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh during his last New Delhi visit.
Greeting the people on the joyous occasion, the Chief Minister conveyed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers and Chief Ministers of different States had also sent warm wishes to the people of Manipur.
He also expressed concern over involvement of some UG groups, which are currently under Suspension of Operation (SoO) with the Government, in the abduction of officials and workers engaged in the construction of railway lines.
In this regard, the Chief Minister urged all concerned not to harass or kidnap officials for ransom who are involved in taking up development works.
He also urged the public not to make any criticism on the lines of community or religion which may incite enmity among different communities.
The Chief Minister appealed to all political parties not to do politics by provoking hatred and dividing people.
N Biren also opined that politicians and bureaucrats ought to build the future of the children and students of the present generation.
Children and students could not be shown the right path if the politicians and bureaucrats are corrupt and dishonest, he observed.
He sought co-operation from the public in Government's effort to retain the hard earned tranquillity which is being witnessed since the past 10 months.
Stating that the present Government has kept its doors wide open to all the organisations for talks and discussions, the Chief Minister once again urged all the organisations not to clamp any, bandh or general strike without highlighting their grievances to the Government.
On the joyous occasion, the Chief Minister also expressed his respect and thankfulness to all those who had contributed their mites in achieving Statehood.
N Biren said that the new Government has been trying to translate people's wishes and aspirations into reality.
He further said that the Government has been successful in strengthening the emotional integrity of the people of the State.
Stating that it is essential to run the Government in a transparent and responsible manner in order to accelerate development, the Chief Minister said that the State Government had not only set up an Anti-Corruption Police Station and Anti-Corruption Cell but also opened Grievances Redressal Cell.
The Anti-Corruption Cell of CM's Secretariat had received more than 500 complaints, he said while adding that action had been initiated in 165 cases so far.
Earlier, the Chief Minister inspected and received salute from 59 march past contingents comprising BSF, Assam Rifles, CRPF, Manipur Police, Manipur Fire Service, Home Guards, VDF, NCC, Scouts and Guides and school and college students.
The colourful march past contingents were commanded by Th Vikramjit Singh, MPS.
Ministers, MLAs and high ranking civil and police officers also attended the function.
