In one of the most bizarre revelations, one individual who 'sold' a man to 23 Assam Rifles based at Yaingangpokpi has been rounded up, thrashed and later handed over to police by local people of Lilong.
The accused identified as Md Muhibur Rahaman (22) s/o Md Kamarudin alias Tomba Nupi Shabi of Lilong Mairenkhul reportedly admitted that he was an informer of the Assam Rifles besides being a 'source' of KCP-MC Lanheiba group.
The youth 'sold' to Assam Rifles has been identified as Amir Khan (22) s/o Md Yaima of Lilong Mairenkhul.
In connection with the incident, a public meeting was held at Lilong Hangamthabi today during which a joint action committee was constituted.
The meeting also decided to demand unconditional release of Amir Khan within 24 hours.
Later, speaking to media persons convenor of the JAC Against the Missing of Amir Khan, Md Habibula said that Md Muhibur Rahaman and KCP (MC) surrenderee Khan alias Hatpa of Lilong Haoreibi Awang Leikai took Amir Khan to Yaingangpokpi in the morning of April 22 saying that they would work together for installation of a mobile phone tower at Yaingangpokpi.
Leaving Amir Khan together with Khan alias Hatpa at Yaingangpokpi camp, Muhibur Rahaman returned home the same day.
As Amir Khan remained incommunicado all these days, the local people rounded up Md Muhibur Rahaman from his house yesterday afternoon and subjected him to intense questioning.
At last, Muhibur disclosed that he had 'sold' Amir Khan to Assam Rifles at Rs 5000 .
The JAC convenor said that Md Muhibur Rehaman was also involved in some other criminal activities.
The JAC has decided to submit a memorandum together with a detail report about the whole incident.
In addition to securing safe releaseHuman hawker held of Amir Khan, the JAC would also urge the Chief Minister and other authorities to punish all those involved in the incident according to law.
Muhibur Rehaman who admitted his criminal activities said that he had received only Rs 300 through Khan alias Hatpa out of Rs 5000 he should get from Assam Rifles for handing over Amir Khan.
He said that Khan alias Hatpa was a former cadre of KCP-MC, currently attached to 23 AR as a surrenderee.
He further disclosed that he was informer to Assam Rifles besides being a source of KCP-MC Lanheiba group.
Muhibur Rehaman further confessed that he had collected money for KCP-MC Lanheiba Group besides maintaining close contact with 23 AR's 2 IC Kumar, Subedar Gopal and Girish.
He was also involved in arresting people.
