Sangai Festival:: CCTVs to be installed all over

To ensure the success of Manipur Sangai Festival, 2013, various sub-committees have been formed and works assigned to them.
On the other hand, to ensure the safety and security of the visitors and avoid any untoward incidents during the festival, the State Government has taken up steps for installation of CCTV cameras in and around the venue of the festival.
According to information received by Hueiyen Lanpao, for taking up various works related to the festival, committees and sub-committees like organising committee, cultural sub-committee, publicity sub-committee, etc have been formed and the works to be assigned to these committee and sub-committees have been worked out after a joint meeting.
The meeting of the organising committee presided over by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh had already been conducted and discussed the security measures to be taken up in and around the festival venue.
Accordingly, it has been decided to install CCTV cameras to monitor the movement and activities of suspected anti-social elements.
Among the works allocated to different Government departments for the success of the festival, the Public Works Department has been entrusted to complete construction of the main entrance gate and repairing of the roads leading to the festival venue, Public Health Engineering Department would be taking care of supplying the required water for stall operators and IMC would be responsible for keeping the festival venue neat and clean.
As in the past, various programmes would be conducted as part of the festival.
For this, the organising committee would be joining hands with Manipur Tourism Forum (MTF), All Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association (AMHRPA), Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association (MMTA), Royal Riders Manipur (RRM), Manipur Cycle Club (MCC), etc.
MMTA would be entusted with the task of organising events like paragliding, trekking and other adventure sports.
Moreover, who would be the dignitaries to be invited for the inaugural as well as the closing ceremony of the festival has also been worked out.
Along with discussing finalisation of the entire schedule of the festival from day one till the end, efforts are also being made for inviting a Union Minister for the inauguration of the festival.
After a meeting of the cultural sub-committee with Commissioner of Art and Culture Dr RK Nimai in the chair, the task for finalisation of the cultural items to be performed or shown during the festival has been started.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Director of Art & Culture Dr K Sobita, Director of JN Manipur Dance Academy L Upendra Sharma and Deputy Director of Tourism Valentina Arambam.
As in previous editions of the festival, cultural troupes and delegates from other States and countries would be taking part in the festival.
Although how many foreign delegates or countries would be coming to take part in the festival or opening their stalls in the festival this time would not be ascertained as of now, the accommodation and other facilities for these visitors have been worked out.
Fooding and refreshments for the dignitaries and other invitees on the day of inauguration as well as the closing ceremony would be handled by Classic Hotel.
