World Tourism Day observed at Imphal Peace Museum, Maibam Lotpa Ching

World Tourism Day 2019 under the theme "Tourism and Jobs: A better future for all" was observed at Imphal Peace Museum, Maibam Lotpa Ching Friday.
Speaking at the event CMD Babina Hospitality and Healthcare Industries Pvt Ltd Dr Th Dhabali Singh said that the United Nations has been observing the World Tourism Day every year on September 27 .
Talking about the theme of the observance, he said that youth should be provided skill and other job oriented trainings for employment.
Developing tourism sector in the State will improve economy and open many job opportunities, he said.

Law and order situation which kept tourists from visiting the State has improved in the recent years opening new doors and opportunities, he said.
He identified medical tourism as one important part of the tourism sector and added that the medical facilities available in the State are attracting patients from neighbouring country like Myanmar.
The number of tourists visiting the State has gone up in the recent years, he said informing that as many as 5,247 foreigners and 1,16,032 domestic tourists visited the State during 2018-19 .
There were only 2,588 foreign visitors during 2013-14, he said.
As the number of visitors increases, there will be many more jobs available for youths in hotels, homestay, ticketing, transportation fields and as tour guides, interpreters, Dr Dhabali added.
Manipur Tourism Forum president H Radhakrishna Sharma also spoke at the event and stressed on the need to educate people especially children and youth about tourism and its prospects.
Director Handloom and Textiles, GoM Lamlee Kamei and Director MIMS & CESD Manipur University Professor Ch Ibohal Meitei also attended the event.
Manipur Tourism Forum, Department of Handloom and Textiles, Government of Manipur, Centre for Entrepreneurship and Skill Development, MU and India Tourism, Imphal Office jointly organised the event.
