Imphal, December 15 2013:
Allegedly due to negligence of the attending doctors, a woman died today few days after a caesarian section was performed for delivery of her first child.
The deceased woman has been identified as Irengbam Sandhyarani (25), w/o Irengbam Nanaoba of Iroishemba Maning Leikai.
According to the family members, the deceased Sandhyarani was admitted to RIMS Hospital on December 5 for delivery case.
On the advice of one Dr Romita, she underwent caesarian section that day itself and a baby boy was delivered to her successfully.
She was then discharged from the hospital after three days.
However, she began to nauseate and feel allergic.
Her operated wounds were not properly stitched and as a result pus was developed around the wounds.
Sandhyarani was admitted to RIMS Hospital again yesterday.
On earnest request of the family members, one Dr Arun of Surgery Department re-conducted the operation in presence of the deceased's brother.
The surgeon pointed out the mistakes in her previous operation and then stitched her wounds properly.
Unfortunately, Sandhyarani died at the hospital after the operation at around 2.30 pm yesterday.
The family members are unhappy with the doctors who conducted the caesarian section on her for delivery of her first child.
She could have recovered well after the delivery if she had been given proper care by the attending doctors, they lamented.
The family members have not claimed the dead body.
They want to settle the matter with the RIMS authorities.
However, they could not meet the RIMS officials today as it was Sunday.
