The Special Court, NIA Manipur remanded 22 years old Anil Sharma, a wanted militant in connection with the Paraolon Ambush to police custody till March 17.The accused Anil Sharma alias Anil Rai alias Meiraba (22) s/o (L) Keshav Sharma of Sekmai Bazaar was produced before the Special Court NIA Manipur by a team of NIA with a prayer for police custody remand.
The Court heard the Special PP (NIA) who submitted that the accused Anil Sharma was arrested at around 7.30 pm yesterday, from Sawombung area on the disclosure of Moirangthem Nimaichand, who was also arrested by the NIA in connection with the Paraolon Ambush (Chandel).
The Special PP submitted that in-depth examination/ interrogation of Anil Sharma is necessary in order to unearth the incriminating facts regarding the hatching of conspiracy by leaders of the joint team of banned terrorist organisations at different parts of the country and the ultimate execution of the plan.
The Special PP also added that there might be a need to shift/transport the accused to different locations of the country for at least 10 days.
On hearing the Special PP NIA and after going through the remand prayer, the Court mentioned that custodial interrogation of the alleged accused is warranted.
The Court directed NIA to inform the family members about the arrest of the alleged accused.
The Court then remanded Anil Sharma for 10 days in police custody (till March 17) and also directed NIA to get medical examination of the accused while in their custody as and when the need arises.
