Imphal, March 08 2018:
Left parties of the State, particularly CPI, CPI(M), RSP and All India Forward Block organized a protest meeting at CPI Head Office, Irawat Bhawan here, against the recent demolition of Vladimir Lenin's statue in Tripura following the ouster of the Manik Sarkar Government.
Speaking to The Sangai Express, Deputy Secretary of Manipur State Council, CPI L Sotinkumar conveyed that the protest meeting was held in condemnation of the recent demolition of the statue of Vladimir Lenin in Tripura.
He condemned the incident in the strongest term saying the same act was carried out by the goons of RSS and BJP and it was fascist in nature.
He further alleged that excessive money power was used and even EVMs were manipulated in the recent election in Tripura to snatch power from the CPI(M).
The Left Front Government in Tripura was accepted as the best Government by people as it curtailed unemployment problem, provided opportunities to the people for cropping thrice in a year, had ties with the people and brought many changes during its tenures.
However, the Left Front Government was ousted forcibly and now they (BJP) said that there is no place to erect statues for outsiders/foreigners, like Lenin in the country, he decried.
Stating that Lenin was a hero who fought against capitalists and inequality in society, Sotinkumar reminded that the Great October Socialist Revolution was led by Lenin.
He went on to say that he is the revolutionary of the world and is a source of inspiration for the whole world.
Therefore, the BJP's assertion that there is no place to erect statues for persons like Lenin is a fascist act, he added.
