Twin statues of Love, Peace and Friendship unveiled

Imphal, April 17 2015 : Aimed at fostering love, peace and friendship among different communities of Manipur, twin statues of Rungsung Suisa and Chingsubam Akaba were unveiled today at Hongmahn Tangkhul village under Senapati district on the 44th death anniversary of R Suisa.

The statue unveiling ceremony was jointly organised by the R Suisa Trust and Luchingpurel Chingsubam Akaba Ningsing Lup (LUCANIL) .

Before the formal function started, titular king of Mani-pur Leishemba Sanajaoba along with R Suisa Trust chairman Dr Ngahorshai Luithui and other dignitaries of the function and family members of Chingsubam Akaba lit up candles and paid floral tributes at the grave of late R Suisa.

The statues were unveiled by Leishemba Sanajaoba, Dr Ngahorshai Luithui and other dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ngahorshai Luithui stated that late Rungsung Suisa wanted his body to be buried facing towards the valley which showed his love for the people of valley dwellers.

He further added that "Both the leaders worked for the unity of different communities and we must follow their path.

Such statues would surely inspire the young generations to work in a unified manner for the development of Manipur" .

Dr Ngahorshai Luithui further said that the two reverent leaders belonged to hill and valley areas and unveiling their statues will mark unity amongst the people of the valley and the hills.

The twin statues erected at Hongmahn Ground would surely bring unity, love and respect amongst the people of hill and valley.

Speaking on the occasion, Leishemba Sanajaoba said that the both the statues are symbols of unity amongst the different communities of the state.

Two such statues were already erected at Wakha Leima Ching.

There are many similarities between hill people and plain people and these similarities should be studied well by younger generations.

They should forget all the unwanted things that may have happened in the past.

Son of late R Suisa, Paksha Rungshung stated that his father along with Chingsubam Akaba worked for the unification and upliftment of all the people of Manipur and added "We should carry on the works they have started" .

Mathankhui Zimik, Chief of Hongmahn Tangkhul village said that the statues of the late leaders is a living proof of their dedication and a symbol of unity amongst the hill and valley dwellers.

Following the tradition of the Manipuris, many women of Social Elevation for Human Resources and Environmental Management Organisation, Manipur (SEHREMOM) brought Athenpot (offerings of fruits and vegetables) for the twin statues of love, peace and fraternity.

Other dignitaries of the function included N Tomba, Trustee Member of LUCANIL, H Dhani Meetei, MNF Central Committee Member, former Minister RV Mingthing, president of Tangkhul Naga Wungnaolong Sweeten Rahing, and special guests included Sarangajit Khundrakpam, Secretary of COSHEM, Mathankhui Zimik, chief of Hongmahn Tangkhul village, Sh Hemanta, Shumang Leela artist and social worker Paksha Rungshung.
