Lamka, November 15 2009: A 55-year-old man, whom many locals suspect to be an elusive serial molester, miraculously escaped being caught red-handed as a disabled girl on Friday nearly unravelled the man's notoriety as he made sexual advances to her.

K Maimu (name changed), a physically challenged 12-year-old girl of Thangkangphai village here was allegedly attacked by one Mr Singh (55), husband of Mrs N of Thingkangphai after he took the victim to one of her uncle's house located adjoining to hers, on the pretext of buying her eatables, alleged the victim's father K Ngouba.

There Mr Singh tried to seduce her and had started to feel the girl's before she managed to wriggle out of his grip.

Maimu, when asked to narrate her tales practically imitated action of her attacker to the media persons as well as local elders late yesterday at her residence and alleged that Mr Singh had tried to rape her.

The father said he was out in the field and his wife had gone to Imphal on that fateful day when their eldest daughter among three children was attacked by Mr Singh.

"We became only aware of her tales when she narrated it to her mother in the evening after she returned from Imphal," he said and added that she had related her story to her cousin, M, also once molested allegedly by the same stalker.

Villagers including Maimu's maternal uncle Mr N accused the victim of being a man who frequently makes indecent advances and attacks minor girls particularly those living with some sort of physically deformity.

To substantiate their claim of Mr Singh being a serial molester they identified one Vahboi (name changed) also a native of their village and with some form of physical deformity as another victim.

The other instances being Mr Singh's exploits on Nukta Sana (name changed) and the victim's own cousin Monica.

In some of the cases Gambhir did manage to rape his victim while in other cases they escaped, the villagers asserted.

"He (Mr Singh) and his family don't deserve to be a resident of this village anymore; they have to be chased away, this is not the first time and it won't be the last," Mr M insisted adding that Mr Singh should be awarded a befitting punishment worth his devilish act.

When asked about whereabouts of Mr Singh , villagers claimed that they had last seen him on the night of latest incident when he was beaten up by his elder brother.

"We haven't seen him since then," they told the media.

People well versed with Mr Singh accused him to be habitual drinker with records of immoral conduct on minor girls, mainly with physical deformity.

Meanwhile local media has reported that Mrs N, wife of the serial molester and a local Meira Paibee leader has condemned the conduct of her husband, but denied his whereabouts.

Ironically, the victim's family has not lodged any complaint with the police till date.
