Imphal, September 13:
Along with adopting three different resolutions, the sit-in-protest demonstration staged by the staff and officials of the JN Hospital, Porompat since yesterday in condemnation of monetary demand from various UG organisations concluded today.
The OPD and the Casualty wards of the hospital which had remained closed as a result of the protest demonstration would resume work from tomorrow.
Before winding up the two-day long protest demonstration held inside the hospital complex under the aegis of JN Hospital Employees' Welfare Association, the agitating staff and officials of the hospital unanimously adopted three resolutions.
In the first resolution, the staff and officials of the hospital pledged to work toward creating a better atmosphere at JN Hospital and provide better medical and health care so as to pave way for becoming the hospital an Institute of Medical Sciences, a promising institution in the State for the people of Manipur in particular and the public at large.
In order to achieve this purpose and objective, the second resolution categorically stated that JN Hospital should be made 'a free zone' from all pressures.
The third resolution demanded that any financial or other unbearable demands should be stopped immediately and help of all the organisations and the public in fulfilling these objectives would be sought.
Talking to mediapersons at the conference hall of the hospital in connection with these resolutions, president of JN Hospital Employees' Welfare Association Dr Rajendra Singh acknowledged the inconveniences caused to the public as a result of the protest demonstration by the staff and officials of the hospital over two days, but explained that they have been compelled to do so as the employees are not able to bear with the undue pressures and demands of various UG groups any more.
It is not that the grievances of the employees have been resolved after the protest demonstration staged over two days.
But inconsideration of the difficulties being faced by the people, the employees have resolved to resume their normal works, Dr Rajendra said.
General secretary of the Association Dr Dijamani Singh pointed out that the unbearable demands of various pressure groups have seriously affected the doctors and the nurses of the hospital in discharging their duties peacefully.
The Association has also complained against the alleged silence of the State Government over the issue.
