Campaign for 'Ayush intervention' launched

Imphal, August 08 2020: Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar Singh launched "AYUSH treatment intervention in fighting COVID-19" campaign at Pishumthong community hall today.

Representatives from eight clubs and organizations in Keishamthong Assembly Constituency attended the inaugural function.

Speaking on the occasion, Health Minister L Jayantakumar stressed the need for taking self precautionary measures to successfully contain the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said that maintaining hygiene and following the SOPs notified by the State Government are very essential.

"Keeping our surroundings neat and clean with proper sanitization by using disinfectants if necessary, is recommended.

Above all, enhancing the body immune system by taking nutritious food & food supplements and physical exercises will also help protect oneself from the disease", said the Health Minister.

The campaign "Ayush treatment intervention in fighting COVID-19" aims at helping people boost their body immune system.

The campaign will reach all parts of the State covering maximum number of people, he added.

Mentioning about the harmful effects of using sodium hypochlorite, Jayantakumar said that using sodium hypochlorite disinfectant frequently may cause health hazards since the chemicals present in it are harmful to human health according to experts.

Hence, the disinfectant should be used only when they are badly needed, he said.

Jayantakumar also appealed to the public to strictly adhere to the health advisories of the State Government.

He also expressed deep concern over the sudden increase in the number of COVID-19 cases amongst persons having no significant travel history and Central paramilitary and armed forces posted in Manipur.

Ayurvedic immune booster products, such as Ayush Immune Plus, Ars Album-30, Chamanprash etc were distributed as a part of the programme.

He also distributed face masks and hand sanitizers to representatives of the clubs of Keishamthong Assembly Constituency.

Director, Department of Ayush, Dr Y Lukhoi Singh, Member Secretary, National Ayush Mission, Manipur, Dr A Guneshore Sharma, social worker Arunapriya, president Yaipha Lamjing Lup, L Haridash Singh and others attended the launching function.
