COVID-19 task force holds awareness programme

Continuing its effort to sensitise people on COVID-19 preventive guidelines, People's Task Force for COVID-19 held an awareness programme at Ngaikhong Khullen today.
The awareness programme attended by Y Mohen, chairman of Indian Red Cross Society, Manipur State Branch, members of the task force, Ngaikhong Khullen Youth Club COVID-19 Task Force, Meira Paibis, locals and members of clubs, NYC, RYDO, SWC, ULASA, NGAKSA, Ideal etc was held following social distancing norm and other COVID-19 protocol.
During the programme, the task force members sensitise the public and members of the local clubs on the importance of maintaining social/physical distance, hand hygiene and wearing of face masks.
People's Task Force for COVID-19 also appealed the locals not to erect fences obstructing emergencies and essential services but emphasise on protecting themselves by following the simple yet effective preventive measures issued by the Health Department and the World Health Organisation.
People should maintain a distance of at least 6 feet among themselves and when buying goods from shops.
They should wear face masks when venturing outside their houses and in public places.
Gathering of large crowds should be avoided and the locals, especially the local task force units, clubs and Meira Paibis should enforce the safety guidelines.
Gambling, picnic and other activities which may encourage large gathering of people should be checked and prohibited, said the People's Task Force for COVID-19 .
The task force also sensitise the club members and local task force units to give emphasis on any medical emergency which arises in their locality and contact the health authorities and hospital authorities for relief.
They should assist those needing immediate medical attention and maintain close coordination and cooperate with the healthcare workers and other authorities on COVID-19 and non-COVID health emergencies.
It also urged the local educated youths to lead and sensitise the people on the COVID-19 issue and the preventive measures required to avoid infection.
A similar programme was also held at Khundrakpam yesterday, said the task force.
