Polling for absentee voters concludes at Kpi

Kangpokpi, February 25 2022:
House-to-house visit by designated Polling Officials for Absentee Voters to exercise their franchise concluded on Friday for the three assembly constituencies of Kangpokpi district.
Altogether 106 Absentee Voters including senior citizens, persons with disability (PwD) and COVID-19 affected/suspected electors were eligible to cast their votes using postal ballot at home in Kangpokpi district.
17 polling teams visited the house of Absentee Voters to enable them to exercise their voting rights.
Interacting with DIPR officials, Sapam Bishwojit Singh, Returning Officer of 51-Saitu (ST) AC informed that in the AC out of the 62 Absentee Voters, 59 electors cast their votes while 2 voters were reported dead and 1 was out of station.
It may be mentioned that for 51-Saitu (ST) AC, the first round of briefing of electors on voting procedures and collection of marked ballot papers for Absentee Voters was held from February 22 through house-to-house visits by the designated Polling Officials.
Bishwojit also informed that a total number of 43,981 voters will exercise their rights in the 68 Polling Stations, out of which 6 are Pink Polling Stations in the AC .
Laishram Manikanta Singh, RO, 50-Kangpokpi (Gen) AC said that for the AC, the first round of house-to-house visit by designated Polling Officials started on February 23 while adding that out of the 27 Absentee Voters, only 1 was unable to cast the vote from the constituency.
In the constituency, there are 42 polling stations, of which 10 are Pink Polling Stations and a total number of 27,545 voters will exercise their franchise in the upcoming election, he added.
Bungba Maibam Khuman, RO, 46-Saikul (ST) AC said that polling for the AC was held from February 23-25 through house-to-house visits by designated Polling Officials.
Out of the total 17 Absentee Voters, only 1 voter could not cast the vote, he added.
He further stated that there are 56 polling stations, of which 3 are Pink Polling Stations and a total of 28,825 voters in the constituency.
The Returning Officers have also appealed to the voters to cooperate with the district polling personnel to ensure that the election is carried out in a free, fair and transparent manner.
